Indoor Pets Reveal New Single ‘Stink Eye (My Joy Is Irrational)’ Released 16th April 2024

Kent indie rock/alternative quartet Indoor Pets are delighted to reveal their new single ‘Stink Eye (My Joy Is Irrational)’ set for release on 16th April 2024.

The track is the latest to be taken from their forthcoming new album Pathetic Apathetic, set for release on 10th May 2024 via original label home Alcopop! Records.

Following metal-tinged indie anthem lead single ‘London (Love To Hate)’ and airwaves-bothering follow up ‘Dopamine Girls’, the new track is the Kent four-piece's latest offering from their robust and ambitious upcoming sophomore album, packed full of arena ready anthems.

Channelling the best of brit-pop and alt-rock over the years, the single hinges around a groove-driven verse bassline that wouldn't sound out of place on a Cake record, before bursting into a towering chorus and a barrage of distorted guitar.

Commenting on the single, vocalist Jamie Glass says: “'Stink Eye’ is an inner-monologue in an alt-rock wrapper. The feeling of being at a party that you don’t want to be at. A wash of thoughts that are sometimes worth listening to and sometimes not. We always joke that this song sounds like it belongs on a betting advert. Please gamble responsibly.”

The album’s metal-tinged-indie lead single ‘London (Love To Hate)’ and gargantuan follow up ‘Dopamine Girls’ were released earlier this year with multiple radio spins from Alyx Holcombe and Nels Hylton at BBC R1, Tom Robinson and the Indie Forever show at BBC 6music, added to the Amazing Radio B List, and made Record of The Week at BBC Radio Kent.

The singles also smashed onto Spotify’s New Music Friday, All New Rock, The Rock List and shockwave playlists, alongside support from LOUDER, DORK Magazine, The Punk Site, Noizze and many more alternative tastemakers.

Featuring the high-pitched snarl of Jamie Glass, the melodic guitar stylings of James Simpson, the rhythmic force of Rob Simpson on drums, and the ribcage-rattling basslines of Oliver Nunn, Indoor Pets have finally returned triumphant from their self-imposed hiatus with the promise of tour dates, a behemoth sophomore album, and a far darker mood.

Hot on the heels of 3 SOLD OUT nights at The Grace in London and Deaf Institute in Manchester, the band recently announced a run of May 2024 UK headline tour dates, with tickets on sale now (see below for listings), and Indoor Pets will also be appearing at this year’s 2000 Trees Festival on 10th—13th July, with further festival dates TBA.

A band that have never taken themselves too seriously, and now preparing to lay bare their internal angst for all to see, Indoor Pets are no longer pulling their punches.
